A native to Kansas City, Barbara Florez graduated from the Kansas City Art Institute, finishing graduate school at University of WA at Seattle. Following this, she has held positions in art education at the university level and within various museum educational programs. She has maintained a consistent studio practice.
As a cross-media artist, she creates paintings, digital media, and sculptures of clay, and glass. Her most recent work incorporates color saturated landscapes inspired by local landscapes and weather conditions in the midwest.
